CONTEXTUAL FIT
SMITH HOUSE ADDITION DESIGN
The Smith family loves nature and is actively involved with the outdoors. Family values and health is very important because it's what bonds them together. The Smiths want an expansive space added to their already outdoor/indoor living concept. The Smith parents would like a family room to compliment family time and host holidays. Mrs. Smith would like a master suite to be added as well, but not be the focal point of the home since she wants the house to accommodate her whole family. The Smiths also want an exercise room and would like it to be large enough to accommodate the whole family at once. The most important thing to them is that their addition shows much light, oceanic views and flows with their original model.
CONTEXTUAL ANALYSIS TABLE
I had to illustrate a diagram for each floor plan, the lower, entry, and upper level. Then I had to combine those illustrations into a final composite diagram. The diagrams were to be reductive and not look like floor plans. Each diagram portrays one of the following systems: circulation, hierarchy, enclosure, structure, additive and subtractive, mass and void, function, and lastly sleeping and living areas.

NEW FLOOR PLANS
The new addition to the Smith's home required the following: a family room, home gym, master suite, and outdoor deck. I reconstructed each level to fullfil the desires of the Smiths without conflicting their unique modern design.

These 3D diagrams create realistic views that capture the interior design of the original and addition models joining as one. Each of these views display the new rooms desired by the Smiths throughout the extension. These vertical diagrams show how the overall layout conforms to the original design while still complimenting the surrounding landscape.
